    Hi,

ok, this may well have been asked on numerous occasions, however i have looked and cant find a decent answer

how do you take a screen cap on a mac....? i need to send images to programmers etc to show which parts of sites i want them to work on etc, with my pc its easy, just press print screen and thats that, but on my mac hmmmmmmm

i have tried the command shift and 3 or 4 whatever it was and it made the noise of taking an image but it wouldnt paste int into photoshop

can someone tell me how to do this please, and/or possibly give me a link to some software tha i can use if thats the best solution?

    thanks in advance
    Steve

What you are doing is right, how ever it won't copy the screenie to the clipboard, it will call it Picture ##.pdf and put it on your desktop.

    some hints:
shift + apple + 3 = full screen pic on desktop
shift + apple + 4 = draw a selection box around what you want to save and then put it on desktop (this would allow to to show one specific element so you don't need to go back and crop)
shift + apple + 4 then space = shows a camera and allows you to take a picture of just the window you have your cursor over. (this may be the easiest way for you to get the whole site)

these are of course saved as a pdf on the desktop as mac os x's graphics system is based on pdf's. those of you that don't have photoshop can open it with preview and then: file --> export. then choose your settings to save it as a jpg or whatever. using jpg options, you can even set a target size so you don't waste people's time with a huge shot...

    hope this helps someone,
    reality
