Secure erase

    Hi all.

    In Disk Utility, why is the "Secure Erase" option greyed oyt?

    I understand the fact doing a secure erase on SSD does not help it in any way, but if thats the case, you can do it from with the OS. All it says it "You cannot secure erase in this tyoe of drive"

    It might be a built in security in OS X, secure erasing overwrites the blocks many times and is not really that good for a SSD as you mentioned yourself.
    Especially on TLC drives, these kind of drives have a much more limited write total.
