Ok so I installed the security patch like many others and then suddenly my computer wouldn't boot. So I call Applecare and they told me to reinstall MacOSX after exhausting all other options. I was trying to do this before I went to work, and when the install got to disc 2, it kept hanging at the iWorks install. By the time I got home after work Applecare was already closed, so I decided to give the 24 hour chat thing a try. Well.....I'm talking with this guy and he decided even tho there is no visible damage to my disc, that I am going to need a new disc 2. Not only that, but I have to call Applecare to request one.
So wait, until I get a copy of disc 2, that might not even work....I'm without MacOSX.... This is kinda bull....I installed a trusted security patch from Apple that hosed my install and now I am without the apps I need for over a week. I'm a web developer and rely on MacOSX to work. Should I call Apple Customer Relations and complain?

Plus....the only reason I am able to even post this, is because I was able to boot into my Windows partition. OMFG, Windows saved me...this is a sad day.

Sorry for your problems, but there have been many posts in MR and other forums suggesting that this is caused by having PPC apps as startup items, and there isn't any reason to reinstall. Instead, booting in safe mode and removing PPC startup items appears to work.

I'm not defending Apple here, but it's a pity you hadn't come to MR earlier.

Apple was the one that told me to reinstall. I also went into Safe Mode by their request and removed most of my startup apps by their request. The only one lft was the one with accordance with MS Office which was PPC. I asked the guy if I should remove that one and he said to not.
