Settings to Prevent Notes from wiping notes

I started using Notes days ago, and I just experienced something that appears to be a not uncommon occurrence (based on some googling): it deleted some of my Notes.

Based on some googling, a lot of the problems of Notes wiping notes seems to be related to Mavericks, but I still saw posts for Yosemite.

Is there anything I can do, like with certain OSX/Notes settings, that can prevent the disappearance of notes?
