I have a pc and want to get a mac but don't know how to get internet on both of them. I have a comtrend adsl router with an ethernet cable running to the pc. Is there any way that I can just run another ethernet cable to the mac so they both get internet? My router only has one place for an ethernet cable, so is there any cable that splits the connection? Could I get internet on both at the same time? Thanks, rhodest

you're going to need to get a network router or switch so you can share that one line from the adsl i believe. example

Any good computer store should have a wired router lying about for you. There shouldn't be any Mac/PC incompatibility issues so just get the cheapest one they offer. To be honest, home users only ever need the cheapest so don't be sucked into getting some sort of massively expensive piece of hardware. :)

I recommend a D-Link. easy to setup, very reliable and has embedded linux. I use my D-Link Di-604 to share internet, provide a firewall and watch video from my towers drive on my mini. its a great router and has never skipped a beat. I get 9.5mb a sec transfers consistently on 100bt.

Yes, it works very well and with no noticeable decrease in speed of connection.

same one I have. great router. grab that while you can!@# 5$ is a steal!

the 604 is a beast of a router for a basic/entry level. mine pumps full screen high res. video over a 100bt smooth as silk. plus a router gives you more speed when sharing over just a simple hub.
