I have an HP deskjet 5550 connected to my G4 iMac. I'm trying to share that printer with my Compaq laptop that's connected to my NETGEAR router. I've successfully networked both computers and I have "sort of" successfully shared the printer. I tried both Bonjour and just the regular "Add Printer Wizard" and added the printer that way. Windows doesn't show any drivers for my HP 5550 so I just added the Apple Colorlaser printer drivers as suggested in some other threads. Now I can successfully print from my laptop to the Mac's printer, BUT all the black text that comes out brown! I haven't tried all programs yet, but printing black text from Firefox and IE comes out brown on the printer and also black text from Microsoft Word prints out brown. I've tried both color printer drivers from Apple's list, but they both come out brown. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem???

How about when you try the noncolor Apple printer?

The way described in your original post is really a poor way of doing it, but to your defense thats the only way that I have gotten it to work on my own setup. Theres no great way to do it.
