What shipping times are people seeing? Due to Apple's site sucking (I can't use my Verizon credential through Apple, even though they work perfectly fine on Verizon), I won't be able to order the phone until the morning. Probably lost my chance at first day delivery. I was hoping to get an idea of what shipping times were getting up to.

Good to know. Thank you! Some people are saying that even though the site asks for the phone number, it wants the residential account password, which is a separate password from mobile. My parents forget the residential password pretty much every four weeks and constantly reset it so I can't get it till they wake up in four hours.

The 64GB space grey has slipped to 1-5th April in the UK, all other models and colours still showing 31/3 delivery AFAICS. It seems the UK supplies aren't quite as plentiful as some people expected.

All 16gb + some 64gb UK models are 31st of March, Space Grey and Silver 64gb say 5-7 days though.

I just ordered from att at 7 am central and my email says 3/31. 64 gig silver.

I ordered a couple of hours ago (will be my first smartphone) and the confirmation email from Verizon says "deliver by" the 31st. 64 GB, in the U.S.

Seems to be 11-14th now for the 64GB. Must be selling well.
Or they underestimated demand. Probably both true to an extent.

IMHO though, T.Cook would rather iPhone SE headlines mention delayed shipments than lack thereof, as folks would most certainly interpret that as lack of demand.

I've already mentioned that I ordered yesterday and got a promised delivery of "... by the 31st." Which of course is the release date in the U.S.

Question:

Do pre-ordered phones ever arrive before the official release date? And if so, can they be activated as soon as received, or not until the official release date?

(This will be my first smartphone, so I'm impatient.)

(Ordered from Verizon, if that makes a difference.)

Typically what will happen is, the phone will ship earlier than expected, but Apple will force Fedex/UPS (or whatever service they are using) to not deliver it until the official release date. Of course there are a few lucky people who gets its a day or two early by mistake.

@Verizon - I am not sure about this. I got the SIM-free version and not on contract.

They occasionally arrive early--a small handful do every year--but shippers are typically heavily fined for it.

Yes, you could activate it early.
