Yeah, last year in halls I could clock my connection at over 100,000 kb/s down, but all the ports you would want to use were closed
all wireless as i dont use an ethernet cord on my Macbook Pro and the ADSL plug is in the bedroom.
i share the HP's shared folder to my Mac and vice versa and have wireless printing setup on the MacBook.

Arg, well, thanks for the enthusiasm. There's over 70 hosts (mostly VMs), but here is a rough picture.

Here's my little section of the house...
This is my home network wiring closet.
I don't know of any good diagram software for the Mac, so here's the gist of things:
Cox Communications 16/2Mbps cable runs into a Linksys wireless router which provides DHCP/NAT. The Linksys connects to a Cisco Catalyst 4000 on the other side of the house.
The Catalyst 4000 (pictured) serves as the main switch. It's got triple-redundant PSUs on independent fuses with an APC SmartUPS 1500SC for failover. It's got a First-gen supervisor engine with dual fiber uplinks, and I added a 32-port FastE/2-port 1000Base-SX module. We've got 10 jacks throughout the house, all of which run into the basement to the Catalyst.
Below the Catalyst is a Dell OptiPlex GX260, P4 2.66Ghz with 1GB RAM, which runs CentOS 5. At one point it was connected via 1000Base-SX fiber to the Catalyst, but it could never manage to utilize the entire link so I switched it back to FastE. It spends most of its days crunching numbers and folding proteins.
Next to the rack is an IBM xSeries 235, Dual 2.0Ghz Xeon, 1GB RAM, 4x36.4GB Ultra160 SCSI disks in a RAID5 array. The xSeries runs RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 and is configured as a storage box, but has yet to be utilized. At one point it was connected to the Catalyst via fiber, as well, but was switched back to FastE for the same reason. It spends most of its days crunching numbers and folding proteins.
Beyond the wiring closet, it's one big fustercluck. We've got 9 client machines and those two servers.

Myhome network powered almost exclusively by Apple
I have very good documentation and layout graphics of my home network, simply because there are quite a few moving parts so to speak. I thought I would post the final setup (has been like this for a few months) to get other people's input.
The only place where I have network cables are in the actual networking closet. Everything else is wireless, from the PS3 all the way to the linux client and out smartphones. What do you think or have at home as a solution??
