I bought my wife an iPod Shuffle yesterday. I brough it home and was going to install her songs. We have an 500 Mhz indigo iMac. When I plugged it into the keyboard USB port, it wouldn't come on. So, no biggie, I've had flash drives not work on the keyboard. So I plug it in on one of the side ports, but realize the casing of the computer isn't allowing the shuffle to plug in all the way. The casing is hitting the side of the shuffle before the shuffle makes a connection with the computer.

I know this is the the problem because it works perfectly on our G5 and several other computers that have a clear USB port.

Is there anyway to make it work on our trusty iMac without buying the dock or a USB extension? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately, in the small print on the Apple Store it says:

    * Note: Some computers require either the optional iPod shuffle Dock or a USB cable extender (sold separately)

So it's either buy a USB extension (very cheap) or a powered hub.

The power-macs come with a USB extension cable for the keyboard: I don't suppose there's a chance that your keyboard has one?

Yea, I've got the extension cable from our G5. I'm using it though with it. But it's not a big deal at all. I just ordered an $8 extension cable from amazon. I was just making sure I wasn't thinking of an easy way to make it work before I purchased the extension.

    Thanks a bunch!!!
