Yes, this issue has been addressed in other forums and probably here as well. But everyone is having this problem, just not you. So whenever your computer hangs when shutting down, u have to manually press and hold the power button to shutdown your computer. :(

The good thing is that you know it's time to shut down the Mac mini because the light on the front goes out once Windows is ready to shut down or reboot. :)

It's normal for Windows XP to freeze during shutdown, it does every time on my HP laptop. :(

LOL! That made me laugh. Although it is true. It irritates the hell out of me when I push the power button on my big computer, get into bed and then have to get out of bed again to click 'OK' on a silly little window saying 'this program is not responding, do you want to end the task'. Grrr.... of course I want to end the task, I've just pushed the shutdown button and gotten into bed!! Stop whirring you damned machine and let me sleep!!

Windows 98 SE was even worse... it would freeze every time. And you'd be forced to see that cloudy screen that had the Windows logo on it.

That's why you just unplug it... because Windows will corrupt your files by itself, so unplugging it won't do any more harm.
