Sims 3 quits unexpectedly

hello, im new to this so bear with me.
on the sims 3 when i enter the build mode and try to go into the pool selection it just quits i have restarted the computer, game, taken the cd out and replaced it back in, and it says that there are no updates available. i have the sims 3 deluxe version and custom content uploaded but i didn't ever have any problems with it quitting with custom content. i also have a macbook pro if that helps.

I would delete it completely, then do a fresh install.

no need to restart the computer, just hit Option-Command-Escape, that will instantly kill the app, even if its frozen
