Siri Offers Witty Responses About September 7 Event

Ahead of Apple's "See You on the 7th" special event next Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Siri is now offering up some traditionally witty responses to users that mention the tagline for the upcoming event. iPhone users can test Siri themselves by saying "see you on the seventh."

Apple sent out media invites earlier today for the event, to be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. There, Apple CEO Tim Cook and other senior executives are expected to announce the iPhone 7 and possibly a second-generation Apple Watch. Less likely is a new MacBook Pro, expected later in the year, but a September announcement cannot be ruled out entirely.

Apple will also likely provide an update on the prospective launch dates of iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10.

I want Siri to give witty responses when asked about the EU Tax Ruling and the upcoming Class Action Suit for Touch Disease lol. Let's see what she says then.

It's just frustrating. I'm driving and I'm trying to get Siri to handle a task for me so I don't have to touch the phone, but it never is able to understand exactly what I'm saying, and even if it finally does it just offers to search the web. When I was using the iPhone I'd always just end up doing it myself at a red light.

But oh, Siri can hand out useless witty responses just fine. Frustrating.

My experience has been similar.

Do yourself a favour and just turn it off. You're more likely to get in an accident while repeating yourself to Siri than you are typing something at a red light. As far as I'm concerned, Siri adds to the problem of distracted driving -- it doesn't lessen it.

Obligatory PSA: Try not to play with your phone until you're parked.

Yeah, I can certainly see your frustration. We can only hope Apple will continue to make improvements to it, though I wouldn't hold me breath too long for them.

Well I've since switched back to Android, and Google Now has been 10x better and more useful than Siri. I've also heard good things about Cortana, too. I don't know what's going on with Siri.
 
Prediction for the last bit of the main announcement:

Tim Cook: "Oh...just one more thing. We still aren't updating the MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, Mac Pros, or iMacs. Cya, and don't let the Moscone Center doors hit you on the way across the street to buy new watch bands."

She finally learned how to get to the MSP airport without driving illegally over the runways. She still doesn't have the ability to find a single Menards store (the biggest home improvement chain in the upper midwest), takes dictation so poorly that I have to retype 90% of dictated messages, and I swear she's getting worse with every update. And don't get me started on HomeKit with Siri... at best she takes 1/4 of the most basic commands to turn on/off lights--with no improvement when we have renamed the lights multiple times to be easier for her to grasp. I've gone from being an enormous fanboy to now giving Apple one last chance with this next product/software cycle before I begin clawing out of the Apple ecosystem.
