Some of you may note certain posts have been deleted or edited by the admins.

In general, we'd like to keep it "pure" with all user posts as is... but here are some guidelines about when posts will be trimmed:

    1) overtly offtopic posts in an otherwise good thread will be deleted (just the offending post)
    2) Topics which spiral out of control into insults/petty arguments will be closed.
    3) overt Troll Threads will be closed immediately
    4) attempts to get around the language censorship will be edited appropriately
    5) Talk of Serials or Warez will automatically get deleted.

    :)

Hi, I have a question. I was reading the forums and I saw this several times:

    "Cl***ic"

I was just wondering what that word was. I can't tell because the asterisks are blocking it out! I'm sure I've never seen that word before, and it's probably for the best that you blocked it out, because it's almost certainly bad... whatever it is. If you hadn't blocked it out, then the terrorists have already won, and won't SOMEONE think of the children?

that was due to an overzealous language censor...

Arn, slightly off topic but its about the layout on the front page of the site. To be honest I thought it was a lot easier to quickly look at a list of recent topics when there were only about 10 or so and not in categories. Just my opinion though.

Its probably just me. I liked the old style because you could very quickly glance at the most recent topics (10 or so) without worring about the categories and having to scroll down. Generally though, I think you are doing a great job with the site. Keep it up.

    front page categories

i liked the old style, but liked the idea when i saw the new organization. only problem is most of the threads people post are in completely wrong categories so the categories dont help much since people seem to be unable to place their thread in the appropriate category.

as long as you feel comfortable censoring posts maybe you can move posts to their appropriate categories when you notice an out of place thread.

    Tha't why I couldn't find my posts!!!!

To delete some post would mean a "control of content" and that is not "freedom of speech", that is even against the humman rights.

I'm gonna give you a real example of want you are doing here:

Right now in my country we have a president that want to implement a dictatorship. He came out a few months ago, with something called "A law of content", that was a law because the media didn't say what he want them to say about his "revolution". In that matter he doesn't like the media to complain because he bought not one, but two 474 air planes for him because he felt envy of Clinton.

To the administrators, what you are doing deleting posts is what Fidel Castro have been doing for 50 years but killing people. This is a comunist a totalitarist resolution.

    I'm not agree.

The poeple should find their way in their thoughts but not limitating expresions.

If some one came and post a bunch of porn web sites adresses people will just ingnoring it. People comes here to talk about Macs, this is not the place for doing other things but the topics should flow by them selves, that si what makes the forums interesting, all the things around the information that we didn't realized was there. The forums are about a real conversation coming in and out of topict, that is what is good about macrumors, not a cold place full of nerds.

The US called it self a democratic nation and a democratic culture, the ability of the administrators to delete posts are not democratic at all.

This is not freedom of speach.

This forums a full of kids, if they belive in what is happening here, tomorrow they are gonna fired their employees because they were not agree, or shout up their wives mouth because she was not agree, or they won't listen to others and they would be isolated.

The beauty of the US culture is the individualism, I can think what ever I want and you can do the same, in that manner we can have our own thought and develop them. I'm my country that doesn't happen, belive it or not, no one here does anything unless every body else is doing it! and you do not know how hard is to develop a country where people does not think, becuase it was bad to express them self.

ARN, I guess you miss it this time.

Do not manipulate content, it will control it self.

Re: Tha't why I couldn't find my posts!!!!

Let's be clear here... no one on this site has full "freedom of speech".... this is basically a private site.... which you have posting rights to.

I have no problem with you posting whatever you want on your own site... But... have no doubt - on someone else's site, you have as many rights as the person there allows.

To put it another way... mymemory - if you pay for half my costs of this site, I promise I won't edit or delete any of your posts.

    think of it this way

arn took the time to build a nice house and was nice enough to leave the door unlocked. we come in, talk with our friends, eat a little pizza etc...

but the first time we spill wine on the sofa or swing from a light fixture he's gonna do what it takes to maintain a little decorum.

sure he's edited me before...(was it my gas?) oh well....

...and not to sound too extreme...

See the guidelines above... of note: posts will never be edited/deleted because I disagree with their content....

    Arn....

just doesnt want to get shut down...

Talking about serials, Hacks, warz and stuff like that can get a webmaster/host/ISP in trouble. I love Mac rumors and I wouldnt want it to go down like so many others I have seen due to content of posts. then Arn would have to move the site to Russia or some other place that if you pay enuph.. they just dont care what you post. As for the bleeping... its not so bad... i mean... its just bleeps. The thing with "classic" being eddited was kind of strange.

Its not really a freedom of speach issue.

... not to mention... last time I checked Arn was not mentioned on the 1st ammendment. This is a privat site.. he can admin any way he wants. And I dont feel that the site has lost any content as of lately.

.... but some of you might feel diffrently.
