Anyone else using this version, I'm find that on my 12' G4 iBook 1.2Ghz with 768MB RAM it makes the rest of my machine very 'choppy'.

Eye candy like 'Magnifying Dock' is no longer smooth, is this app supposed to be this intensive? Is the previous 1.3 version like this? In 'top' Skype in the background with one conversation is using 40-80% CPU and quite quickly my cpu temp rises to the top percentile of my personal range.

I'll have to install it on my iBook. I have it running on my mac mini with no problems as of yet.

    Isn't that the truth?!? :D

Considering there isn't much great about the version 1.4 beta, I wouldn't update. I'm waiting for version 2.0 where there is video chat. That would be a worthwhile beta test.

To be honest this is my first go at Skype ands I like to get the latest & greatest version even if it is beta. I've never seen anything 'rag' my iBook like this unless it's either very Graphic intensive or something like ripping a DVD which takes a lot of CPU.

I surprised something that is just sending audio & text has this effect even if it is beta, what's going to happen when they get to 2.0 and video is added!

Talking of which are they actually working on 2.0? I would like a way to video-talk to my PC mates who don't want to use AIM. Would be nicer is Adium did video that worked with Yahoo! & MSN accounts.

They're working on version 2.0 for Windows but the Macintosh developers are a little tied up with the version 1.4 beta, don't you know? ;)

I've been running 1.4 beta for the past few weeks. I basically just leave it running all the time, and haven't noticed any lagging or system slowdown at all. I'm running it on the PowerBook in my sig.
