Does anyone use this service? I just found out about it on pcworld.com and was wondering who have all giving this a try.

www.skype.com for people to check out.

I use Skype to talk to my brother and friends while playing WoW. Works great, although having something like Teamspeak would be even better...

I hope you were reading an old pcworld mag, as skype really isn't new or anything :p

But yeah, its a nice program... I use it, but lately yahoo chat gets used more as it also supports video. After getting the camcorder hooked up and a studio lamp for nice lighting; I mainly do video conference's.

So yeah, once they add video, i'll be happy.

You must be one of the only people who hasn't heard of Skype! ;)

Skype sees 155,000 new users per day register, it currently has roughly 35 Million registered users, there are about 1.2 Million SkypeOut accounts, and approximately 1.5 Billion minutes are used per month with 22% monthly growth.

Skype is big and will get even bigger!

I love Skype. Having a 4 person chat with someone from the States, one from Britain and one from Singapore is second to none. Great service...

I've tried the Windows version a little bit a long time ago, using it to chat with a friend during a game of Guild Wars. Worked very nicely. But I mostly stick to text chat anyway.

Gotta love that it support the three major platforms (Linux/Mac/Win).

I would like to know this as well - I've never played around with that functionality, as I didn't think it was available, but if it is I'd be all over it!

Regardless, Skype is a ver impressive tool!

I dont know what happened but after I installed Tiger and uploaded the latest version of skype all my friends has been deemed as not friends by skype. I just cant use it anymore.
Anymore people with that strange problem?

I've used it and the sound quality is better than my land line. I suggest that you quit skype when you are not using it so you do not become a supernode, routing calls for other people and using your bandwidth.

Well I hadn't heard of Skype until maybe 12-16 months ago, and have yet to try it. I can't imagine phoning my mum in Canada using Skype, and I can't imagine paying for SkypeOut when a long distance phone card gives me better rates ($0.03 Aussie dollars per minute). :)

    I've used Skype before.
    The quality is crazy good.
When I was talking to a friend, I was typing at the same time, so since my microphone is about a centimeter away from my left hand, all he heard was "click click *garbled word* click"
To get me back, he picked up his mic and banged it on the table. PUNK!

Hoo.. and I left "skype me" mode on before.
about 4 creepy people wanting to talk within 1/2 a minute.
I have since turned off skype me mode.... haha

We've had good experiences with Skype user to user from South Am. to Mid-West U.S. Some adjustements on echo off needed from time to time, but for freeware, it's a good thing and it's for all platforms.
