This should be fun eh? I was challeneged in another thread to read the lyrics to this particular song by Slayer since I had asked you all to listen to a lecture on God and so I did. I figured since I've gone that far, why not talk about it more in depth.

    Here's the Lyrics:

    Oppression is the Holy Law
    In God I distrust
In time His monuments will fall
    Like ashes to dust
Is war and creed the master plan?
The Bible's where it all began
    Its propaganda sells despair
    And spreads the virus everywhere

    [Refrain:]
    Religion is hate
    Religion is fear
    Religion is war
    Religion is rape
    Religion's obscene
    Religion's a whore

    The pestilence of Jesus Christ
    There never was a sacrifice
    No man upon the crucifix
    Beware the cult of purity
    Infectious imbecility
    I've made my choice
    666!

    [Solo - Hanneman]

    Corruption breeds the pedophile
    Don't pray for the priest
    Confession finds the lonely child
    God preys on the weak
You think your soul can still be saved
I think you're ****ing miles away
Scream out loud, here's where you begin
Forgive me Father for I have sinned!

    [Refrain:]
    Religion is hate
    Religion is fear
    Religion is war
    Religion is rape
    Religion's obscene
    Religion's a whore

    The target's ****ing Jesus Christ
    I would've lead the sacrifice
And nailed him to the crucifix
    Beware the cult of purity
    Infectious imbecility
    I've made my choice
    666!

    Jesus is pain
    Jesus is gore
    Jesus is the blood
    That's spilled in war
    He's everything
    He's all things dead
    He's pulling on the trigger
    Pointed at your head!

Through the fear you're sold into the fraud
    Revelation,
    Revolution,
I see through your Christ illusion!

    [Solo - King]

The war on terror just drags along
My war with God is growing strong
    His propaganda sells despair
    And spreads this violence everywhere

    [Refrain:]
    Religion is hate
    Religion is fear
    Religion is war
    Religion is rape
    Religion's obscene
    Religion's a whore

There is no ****ing Jesus Christ
    There never was a sacrifice
    No man upon the crucifix
    Beware the cult of purity
    Infectious imbecility
    I've made my choice
    666!

And here's the summation of Christ's mission:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners, [a]
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
    to comfort all who mourn,

3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
    the oil of gladness
    instead of mourning,
    and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

Honestly, I meant it as a joke, but if you want to take it seriously, then go right ahead. I'm staying out of this.

Although it's fun driving through this hick christian town with this blasting out the car stereo :D

I did think of something just now. You spoke of how it was fun to drive through a small "hick" Christian town as you put it and play this.

In your mind would it be "fun" to drive through a predominatley black town playing a song spewing racial epitaphs and other lyrics about rape, murder and the like?

Or, would it be fun to drive past a gay pride parade with a song playing about AIDS and how they're a disease?

Why then do you get your rocks off doing this with Christians?

because being black and being gay are not based in a bunch of ridiculous, made-up belief systems the way christianity is.

Probably because unlike christians, the others don't shove their beliefs down your throat. Plus they don't say you'll go to hell if you don't believe what they believe. Nor do they kill others for not believing in what they believe.

    Q. How many times has a gay man killed or otherwise abused a straight christian man because he was straight?
    A. About 0

    Q. How many times has a straight christian person killed or abused a gay person?
    A. Lots

    That's just one example.

How many people have been killed in the name of gay pride? Contrast that with how many millions have died over the years in the name of the christian god.

I'm sure others could cite countless more.

So in short you're saying that it's okay to hate Christians and any action taken against them is perfectly justified?

No but i can understand why someone would get their jollies from annoying them.

I don't think we should hate anyone for what they believe in. I don't hate christians for what they believe in. However they should not hate others for what they believe in.

Christ preached understanding, a lot of christians preach hate. There seems to be a conflict there.

Christ also preached "I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the father but through me" but when you tell that to a nonbeliever they see it as a hateful thing to say.

    And he said:

34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
    a daughter against her mother,
    a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -
36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'[e]

37"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

And yet people are offended when you point this out.

In another thread the other day we defined the term bigot. By what you've spoken, these people who set out to annoy....or antagonize Christians fit it perfectly. So then, are you a bigot?

Well it seems christians are bigots anyway.

Am I a bigot? Where did i ever say i was intolerant of christians? I said no one should hate each other. That seems like the opposite of bigotry to me.

On the other hand. Of course i'm a bigot. I'm human, it's natural to be intolerant of something. I'm intolerant of a flies belief that he may land on my food and eat. I shall crush him where he stands for this belief!

Because I don't believe in that stuff and I think it's very offensive, insulting and hateful to tell me that I'm going to hell because I don't believe the same things you do.

Kains, I fail to understand why hatred is such a central part of your personal religion and seemingly the only defense you have against those who disagree with you?

Why do you hate people who disagree with you? Hatred is not a central point of Christianity, nor is it of any other religious group, or ethnicity or culture. Yet all you seem to do is go on and on about hatred. It really seems pointless and contradictory to who you say you are.

Maybe not in this thread, but in this forum, definitely. Showing hatred is as simple as quoting bible verses that says something along the lines of how someone's going to hell for their beliefs, or lack thereof.

If merely quoting something Jesus said in a politics and religion forum is hateful then perhaps you should as I was told the other day....get thicker skin.

This reminds me of what someone once said about arguments on the net and participating in the special Olympics.

I can't remember the exact quote... Maybe someone else can :)

Just because Jesus said something, it doesn't mean it isn't hateful. If he said "Let's kill all the fags and ni**ers" wouldn't you say that's pretty hateful?

Something along the lines of "Arguing on the net is like participating in the special olympics. You can win, but in the end, you're still retarded"

I'm also reminded of another quote which ended with
"... they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

However i can't remember that quote either. My memory is quite bad these days.

Speak for yourself. Unless you are calling everyone else who posted here a retard... Are you that hateful that you have resorted to name calling?

A good kindly christian would now apologise if that was not what was meant. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, do you want others to start calling you names too?
