I know during long trips I like to sleep. But does my MacBookPro?

From what I see the HD spins down so there should be little problem here. I ask becasue I would like to take my computer to/from class without having to shutdown to save battery.

When you sleep an apple laptop, iBook, PB, MB, MBP, the hard drive spins down, and (afaik) the only power that it's using is enough to keep the ram going. When ever I travel I sleep my iBook. Only time I don't is if I fly, I shut it down, just for safety of the xray and the pressure and such changing on takeoff-landing.

So yes, this is fine. I've heard if you sleep your 'Book it'll last for about a week before dying.

I have slept my Powerbook on an 8 hour London to Dallas flight with no problems whatsoever, even for take off and landing.

I do, however, turn the machine off when going through the Airport X-ray machine.
