FOUR 7800GT GPUs (two per card), 1GB VRAM, 377 watts of power consumption add up to an insane penis-envy-my-GPU-is-bigger setup....but you know you would if you could.

Each card needs its own power brick!

But you can't buy one. The drivers are currently as stable as a heroin addict, and neither the cards or drivers are available to the public. Yet....

    fast

times like this I wish I didn't drop out of the hardware crowd. about 4 years ago I just got bored with whats in the computer. still. even though I cant tell my 7800 GT from my 9600 pro (my PC's video card) I can see that running Quake 4 in ultra quality with 4xAA in that high resolution at that FPS is bleeding good.

hehe, i have a single 7800GT in my PC and it runs WoW max settings, max AA/AF of all kinds, all quality settings at around 40-50fps  drops to about 15fps in IF tho, lol

    1280x1024 btw

Despite the unfinished drivers, the cards still showed a meaningful increase in framerates over a dual setup, and didn't require an SLI cable either.

It'll probably be awhile before something like this is available off the shelf, but on the upside there's a good chance that by then some of the top-end stuff will be available for Mac.

Available for PC = mid 2006

Available for Mac (Intel) = early 2007 (and that is if we are lucky)

    Sad but true.

Oh God, that would be terrible- being rich would be nice, but being related to the mastermind of all that is evil (aka M$). ;) :)

It probably won't even be that quick, since the Powermac line will still be PPC till the end of '06.

By the time the Powermac is an Intel Mac, nVidia will be well into the life cycle of the GeForce 8 class of video cards. But hopefully by then they'll be making cross-platform cards. ATI already has one, and hopefully it will soon be joined by others.

SLI/Crossfire is the future, until they start making dual-core GPUs. :p
