Okay, just a quick question: I have a MB (2.0Ghz, 1.25 RAM) and I've noticed that if I've shut down or put the computer to sleep, when I awaken/reboot the computer, programs take a while to load? After the initial load, though, programs start up quickly.

I was just curious if this was easily explainable, if others noticed this same oddity, or if it's something I should be concerned about?

Btw, the programs I'm talking about are universal binary, so they're not running through rosetta.

They'll open quickly that second time because they'll be stored in the RAM, which is much faster than the hard disk. How long are we talking about when it comes to waiting for apps to open? :)

not long at all. the second time it's nearly instant, but the first takes 4-5 "bounces" in the dock. i just wanted to be sure there was an easy explanation, and not something i should be concerned about!

Yeah, that's completely normal. The RAM is cleared when you reboot. Therefore the computer must load the app directly from the hard drive, which is much slower. :)
