I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks the name is a bit silly - bringing back memories of "Here he comes to save the day!"

    Other wacky-superhero-cartoon-names-as-products:

Underdog - the Apple Brand UPS that fits nicely under your desk.

AdamAnt - the new indestructible iPod case.

AquaMan - a new sports version of the iPod Suffle that is waterproof.

    Any one got some others?

SuperTed - the children's iPod shaped like a cuddly bear

The Clangers - electronic drums to plug into Garageband

Flumps - uses Core Image technology to distort images in real time

tho I suspect they are very British references. ;)

EDIT - The Clangers has video clips - well worth watching - although I guess they're not traditional superheroes. They did always manage to save their little world though - and you wonder why the Brits have such an odd sense of humour. :p

This could be a fun thread

Vader - a full speed and perfect Windows emulator

This program will destroy the deathstar (Micro$oft) and brings that application back from the dark side - bringing balance to the universe - Windows Apps running in a perfectly balanced (stable) OS X environment.

Yeah, I'll second that one :D

Clangers and Flumps sound a little less like super-heroes and more like odd names someone might have for bodily functions....

I was about to leap (hero-like) to the rescue of the Clangers/Flumps ... But I think you've got a point there.

The Tick - annoying little floating Clock/Calendar application that gets right under your skin.

Frodo Baggins network hub? One hub to rule them all...

[Edit]: Or would this be the Sauron network hub? Maybe it would depend on if you're using it with a Mac or Windows network...

    Ooh, I like that....

And what about sidekicks? Shouldn't they be represented as well? Robin, Arthur (The Tick)....it seems as though sidekicks don't have the good names though.

ah, now as sidekick goes, R2-D2 could be the next gen Automator bot

But then is R2-D2 a sidekick or is C3P0 the sidekick?

Well, if you follow the analogy that R2-D2 is the Grommit to C3P0's Wallace, then R2-D2 is the sidekick.

But then again, if you follow the analogy that R2-D2 is the Silent Bob to C3P0's Jay, then C3P0 is the sidekick. Or is he?

I need to drink less coffee...

But in SW IV, who led who around? I think its the stereotype of the tall, skinny character with the short fat one. Abbot and Costello? Also, C3P0 was eloquent where R2D2 talked in beeps and whistles (also, C3P0 was the straight man to R2 D2)

But we're getting off topic here :D
