Anyone else excited about this game? I know, hard to get excited about a Sonic 3-D game now, but from all the previews it looks very good. I'll probably wait for more reviews to check in before buying, but so far everything sounds pretty positive. We'll see if the final version delivers, as Sonic games have been hyped before.

Here is a review of it:

From all the previews the 360 & PS3 Sonic the Hedgehog looked ok.. nuff said.

I'll wait and see - you never know for once they "may" have gotten it right, but if I was a gambling man, I wouldnt put money on it.

    Oh and if

that constitutes a new landmark in this Sonic game - then god help us all.

Seriously, we have the Easter Bunny bringing us eggs, and we have Sonic, who lately always likes to bring along a turkey to the gaming table..... Thanks-giving is coming earlier this year ;)

A 3D sonic game would have to be flawless for me to buy it after the fiasco of Sonic 360 & PS3. Definetly looks like a rent though.

Everyone at IGN has been hyping this game up like no other. Personally, i'm going to err on the side of history and predict that it will be disappointing to many. It's just difficult to get excited about new Sonics, for me they'll just gone all downhill since Sonic 2 (unless you count the Gamecube bundle game that had about 8 games on it or whatever :p )

It's hard for me to like a Sonic game since the Mega Drive ones. Including Sonic Advance and Rush. I've heard this one is quite good, but Rush got a good reception too and that didn't feel like a true Sonic game to me.

I'm really interested to check this one out. From what I hear it is going to be completely different than any Sonic game before it. Glad they didn't just do a simple port of the 360/PS3 Sonic. Wouldn't be anything to get excited for.

On a side note, I do know I'll probably be let down.

i'm hoping this one is good. most of sonic's recent exploits have been duds, with the last decent one being sonic heroes.

and about the control, yeah, sonic has been somewhat hard to control in the 3d games, and had me really annoyed in many occasions. and the camera can be sometimes frustrating. one of the worst cameras i have ever experienced.

i'm not going to say anything yet though, but if this one stinks, it could be the end of the line...

I know the Nintendo boys will jump on me for this....but I bet it's sub par but reviews and ratings are higher because comparatively to what's on offer for the Wii they'll need it to be better than it probably is. I see this already in their reviews for some Wii stuff...lots of obvious holes in the games (online multi player in ET, etc).

The part that has me worried is where they talk about having more control when Sonic is going through bouncing and what not. I WANT the computer to control that...can't imagine having to constantly start sequences over because I slacked on the wii mote a bit...

Sonic? As in Sonic the Hedgehog? Wow, I hadn't heard of that since... Sonic & Knuckles! And the last one I played came bundled with my Sega Genesis (and Ecco the Dolphin)

Or, on the other hand they could be comparing it to other 3D Sonic games. But that can't be right can it.
Computer controller jumping? It's Sonic. I expect full control (and inertia please, Sonic Rush). It's just a crying shame they couldn't transport the 2D gameplay into 3D as well as Mario did.

Ya that make sense, because in the article it talked about other Wii games, not other 3D Sonig games

BLASPHEMY! Sonic 3 & Knuckles combo game was the greatest thing ever! It was even better than Sonic 2.

You haven't been paying attention then; since Sonic and Knuckles we've had a TON of Sonic games released. Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, "Sonic The Hedgehog" for XBox 360/PS3...

Each one worse than the last. Except I actually kinda liked Sonic Adventure 2 for some reason.

You were uner heavy pain medication at the time ;)

I liked Sonic Adventure's actual action levels (not the hub world or story, that just got on my t*ts)

That's stretching it a bit there. Sonic 2 was god, Sonic 3 + Knuckles was almost as good, but i would still favor Sonic 2. You just can't top the Casino Map, Oil Refinery, etc.

I wasn't talking about the article at all...just the general tendency to give slack to lacklustre games near launch...because they're a paid site and when that's all that's out for a system something's gotta be better than others. I've seen it time and again...games that aren't really that good getting decent scores because they don't want everything coming out getting 5' s or something....we'll see though...

Actually, no :) I traded my Sega for a PS1 and never looked back. A year ago I got the PS2 and Sonic the Hedgehog was just a 4th grade memory to me :p

I dunno what it was. I don't think it was an extremely good title, but I found it playable, better than Sonic Heroes or Shadow.

Probably because me and friends played the multiplayer a lot.

Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog were both released on PS2, as was Sonic Mega Collection (which includes Sonic 3D Blast and some of the others). :p

I liked Sonic Adventure 2 too, maybe it was the uplifting soundtrack.

Sonic adventure for the dreamcast was really fun. 2 was ok, thought the gem finding thing was lame and took too long

my brief summary of the Sonic I've played (because it's 2am and I'm still not tired)

    Sonic 1- Nice
    Sonic 2- what an improvement!
Sonic 3- more of the same, but hey keep it coming!
Sonic & Knuckles- Levels because less detailed, more long distance running. Started punishing for going too fast.
Sonic Adventure- Alright, music kept it Sonic-feeling. Humans?! hmm.
Sonic Adventure 2- Right. Now you buggered it up. 1/3 of the game was fun. Still haven't fixed the engine?
Sonic Advance 1- Didn't like at first. Now worthy of Mega Drive classics, awesome catchy Sonic music, great level design that didn't involve too much running or silly speeds. Boo @ Amy.
Sonic Advance 2- Well gee go and spoil it! Too much speed. Permanent speed boots.
Sonic Advance 3- Oh cool, experimenting with new gameplay. Better than 2 but overall just forgettable.
Sonic Rush- Worse than Sonic Advance 2. Ripped music, god awful story (tip- no storyline in Sonic game plz), totally different Sonic feel.
Sonic the Hedgehog- Don't speak to me, just don't even look at me, take your clothes and get out of my house. no you can't have taxi money.

Why is it Nintendo can release Mario 64 and New Mario Bros, whilst Sega just continue to make Sonic worse? (IMO Sonic 2 beats anything Mario, to cool the fanboys)

I liked Sonic Spinball quite a bit. Not really your typical Sonic, but still fun.
