Wow how times have changed. I remembered how cool I thought I was years ago to have a portable CD player...:)

The problem was that Sony didn't realize the impact of the Apple iPod until it was too late.

Today, the portable media player revolution led by Apple has essentially taken away the portable electronics market Sony once dominated.

I think hindsight is 20/20 though I remember when MP3 players first hit the scene and thinking to myself how stupid they were and reasons why I would never use them. Sony, like all of its competitors, also failed to see that adoption for the platform – specifically iPods – would eventually come and would become rather lucrative endeavors.

There was a better story on the same subject in Fortune which you didn't feature on Macbytes. Why do you keep plugging Aussie and NZ websites? At first I found this interesting, but now it's only irritating, because the quality of reporting down under is not necessarily outstanding and it makes me suspicious as to who's to gain from Macbytes' lopsided (meta)reporting.

Hmmm... True, Sony didn't realize the impact of the ipod until it was too late. But even with these new Walkman's they are no match to the touch
