the most frustrating thing about it is that the us played much more dominantly. they got a couple free kicks and just one of them happened to go in.

and that damned german guy's arm..... kept the us from tying it.

ahh well. it sure has caught my attention, but then again, i already liked watching. so let's hope it gets the rest of the country excited.

ps. did the brits get a refill of chocolates too?

edit: i just saw the "nooooooooo" thread and indeed they did.. good job.

first they have to recover here from all the money they have lost from betting on the wrong team :p

And then they have to import 80 % of the players to make a decent team :D

If it wasn't for that darned Oliver Kahn..... I was really impressed with the US team though. Your guys have made huge progress in the past 10 years. Wouldn't surprise me to see you guys in a semi-final next time round. Well done, kudos to you all :)

    hahaha. good one.

    mr. tongue in cheek.

i see through your ploy pal.

yeah, that goalie was the key. did friedel have to stop any shots (besides the one he didn't)?

seemed like that was the only on target shot the germans had. no?

It's by no means unheard of. You'll get games where one team has a single shot on goal, and scores, and the other team peppers the posts and gets nothing. It's part of what makes it such fun: you can never be quite certain of the outcome :)

Look at germany vs. ireland in the group stages. Germany thought they had the game in the bag, and then ireland come back and equalised in the 92 minute of play. That was a joy to watch :D

Ha! How did you know? Yes, i was supporting the germans :p (iGav, verbose and the others will crucify me for that :D)

Friedel was not really troubled for the whole match, apart from that single goal. Sucks really, doesn't it. That's germany for you though: boring, clinical and hateable :p

    Alles klar.... :D

    All right, back to English!

Listen, at least the Yankees can hit to the upper deck, second tier.

It's a real shame that there aren't too many Yankees fans on the forums.

I guess that means not too many people are going to like my baseball cap collection of like 6 hats!
