Spam filter

I got on a spam list. URRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I am using Leopard 10.5.8 and the Mail filter is doing a great job of deleting the identified offending addresses as they come in. I would like to get a filter that will kick back my address as invalid, and hopefully get off of some of those lists. Two questions: 1) Is this a good strategy or am I better just doing what I am doing now? 2) What do you recommend as a filter program?

In order for it to possibly do any difference at all, the rejection must happen at the mail server level (before the e-mail is accepted), not in your mail client. Not that a spammer is likely to care anyway, sending bulk mail is too cheap...

Can't help with 1) - though I guess that Apple dropped the 'bounce' option when moving to Mountain Lion indicated it was either ineffective or it simply increases the volume of email traffic maybe?
