Spotlight not functioning. Need to reindex.

I don't know what happened, but now I have to reindex spotlight, because apparently there is nothing in spotlight's database. I think I screwed something up. Anyway, how would I get spotlight to reindex my whole hard drive manually?

P.S. I checked the privacy tab under spotlight preferences and nothing is selected.

Yep, once in a while Spotlight eats itself. It's been much better behaved since 10.4.2, but not perfect.
The easiest way to rebuild is to drag the drive into the privacy tab, then back out.

Sorry I need a bit more help with having lost Spotlight - I'm using Leopard 10.5.2..

I can see I can add the HD icon to the Privacy tab - what do i do then?

(it doesn't show up on the Search Results tab obviously.. )
