I just came cross this... Using the iPhone 7 to do some 4K recording. I am recording in my office and there is not external noise very quite office. I noticed on play back that I get occasional static noise very similar to when I turn to a "snow globe TV station" the noise comes and goes and I don't hear any hissing at all from my phone. On the other hand if I record the same video, with the same setting and having the lighting earbuds plugged in the static noise if gone... What's going on?!
Ok, Confirmed at the apple store, faulty rear mic =( The good news is they had a brand new one for me to swap! Problem is not present in the new phone =)
Is that what it is? I had the same issue and got a new phone today and the exact same issue on the new phone too. I thought it was hissing.
Yea... The new replacement has zero static noise when I record Video minus the background noise. The Static Noise was kinda sporadic it would come on and off, the issue disappeared when I recorded with the old phone with the headphone plugged in. It really bugged me... It was a brand new phone, 100% paid for!
Just tried what you suggested and youre right. When I plug in the headphones and record a video its not there.... Damn and I got the phone change dtoday and the new one also had the issue! What are the chances of that
Just tried this as well and the static is gone. Time to get a replacement phone. Have an appointment for Saturday. Hopefully they have them in stock to replace.
No i think youre right. It must be the mic bc when you use the headphone and its mic the sound goes away. I guess I just got super unlucky that even my replacement phone had the same issue.
hmm I tried plugging in headphones and recording and still get a high amount of static in the recording
