will the new apple tv be able to stream from a NAS that isnt managed by itunes? i have a PC with a external HD that has my media on it, alot of it is in AVI format also, and historically apple doesnt play nice with content that isnt in mp4. The apple TV is very tempting, especially at that price but I think I might wait for Sony's new n100 netbox. It has DNLA support, and plays nice with a wide variety of formats, and it even has a usb port for hard drives, and usb sticks.

How about mounting that drive on both the PC and Mac...? Convert the files to what iTunes likes... it's worth the work.

The thing abou this new aTV is it contains some hidden treasures like Apps and jailbreak in the future...
