So my replacement power supply and fan for my Loud ass dual 1.25 got here today. But I have a midterm tomorrow and am not AT ALL prepared.

Do I study and be a good student, or install the parts? It'll take a long time to install...if I dont do it tonight though, I'll be working on a film shoot from tomorrow afternoon (after midterm) until Sunday, so I wont get to it for about a week.

    That is the dilema.

Study. You can always hook up the supply another time.

    Study and get your degree(s)!

Not an April fools joke- I just found out that am being laid off. There is a 99% chance that after 5 years with the same organization I will no longer have a job soon. I do not have a degree. Focus and do the work. You can screw around later.

    Study and get your degree(s)!

See it doesnt work that way. I'm not in high school so this idea of skipping isnt really valid.

If I wait, I'm leaving FROM the exam to go work on a film shoot. I'm the Assistant Director so I gotta be there.

We finish shooting on Sunday, which means I wont get to install it until Monday. :(

which means you won't really be using your machine till Monday - so study and do it later.

I never skipped a minute in highschool. However in college I skipped many a class....

Study now, install the fan right before you go to sleep. studying when you are really tired isn't that productive anyway.

Or, wile away the afternoon on Macrumors! :D

    damn you and your logic...

    Point taken. Grrr...

Yeah, I'll study and wait...I doubt I can do it tonight after studying though, cause it looks like it'll take a few hours.

    :(

Oh well....guess I'll have to see if it makes a difference next week.

Replace the power supply and THEN study. A power supply and fan shouldn't take you long... takes me about 10 minutes...

    I can't believe this....

obviously you should study and then worry about your fan, but hey, if you need answers to every cross road in life that comes your way that's your life.

hehehe....I don't know man, I'm feelin the itch of senioritis....even though I dont graduate this year....

The prob is that the instructions are really long and it appears I have to remove most of my computer to get to the power supply. Then put it all back.

So I guess it's gotta wait. I'm really interested to see how big a difference it makes(better be good). Maybe I could keep it on when I sleep for a change.....and then gain precious render time!!!

Study now, and then install the fan later. You probably aren't going to have time to use your computer in the next few days if you are filming.

Installing it would make a nice study break. Get out of your head for a bit and do something physical with your hands.

The instructions aren't too hard, you just need to try to identify all the screws, levers and parts coming in and going out. I hard the hardest time with getting the new power supply back in because I wasn't pressing in on the back of the side panel.

It makes a HUGE difference in noise, too.

It's very funny that you say this now....I can't study any more man. It's killing me. So I just decided (right before I read this) to do that....or read the directions and make sure I have what I need... ;) Hopefully my computer will be quiet in a bit....

[EDIT] How necessary is the magnetized phillip's head screwdriver? I only have non-magnetized...

It just helps keep the screws on the tip. Just be careful....
