What would you like in one if apple made it here is what i would like

~NAND flash to replace the hard drive
    ~10 inch screen
~no optical drive (but maybe offer an external optical drive like the powerbook 2400)
~maybe no trackpad (replace with the track ball, but maybe improved)
    ~ o and less than 4 pounds

    thats it i guess

    what would you like

I don't know... it sounds like you want something between an ultraportable and a 12" MBP. I would honestly perfer a 12"MBP, that would be small enough.

i guess it would be for me too but i would like it to be really light and the MBP is less than an inch thick but if they got rid of the optical drive and the HD and replaced the HD with flash memory it would be so much lighter!

Oh yes, it can be done if they didn't have to put up the full OS X, something like the Jornadas with Windows CE. That would be awesome, Apple style.

No they could do it. looking at the MacBook it is 5.2 pounds just by taking out the HD and the optical drive they could lose about 1.5 pounds and by putting in the flash they can make have a longer battery life and its solid state

someone didn't get the joke ...

But speaking of cheap, I hear that all-flash drives will make these ultra-portables ultra-expensive also.

The Pound is the unit of currency of the United Kingdom. ;) And grammar and punctuation are your friends.

I do hope flash memory becomes price viable for notebooks on the schedule it's currently on. This technology will be fabulous in the long run.

With a 10" screen, you'd better get a 12" Powerbook G4 since they're both too big to be called sub-notebook.
