    Anyone go last year?

I was thinking about the Ardmore store since it is not in a mall...anyone have any experiences from last year? How long did it take to get through the line?

Last year I went to the att store on columbus, but I think I might go to the apple store this year since I also want to pick up an airport extreme for my shop.

my friend is a mac specialist at ardmore and suggested i go there over the at&t store. i can't see ardmore being that crowded due to the at&t stores throughout the city and apple in kop. i'm just worried about at&t not having the 16GB white- apple is more promising to have that in stock. i also want to go to apple for the accessories because they'll definitely have a bigger selection than at&t.

I was thinking the same thing. Last year the cases that att had were not that great, and I ended up going and buying another case at an apple store within a week.
I think I'm going to get a 16gb black. At first I was going to get the white to cowspot it, but I'm a bit leery of messing up a brand new iphone...hehehe

Will anyone be bringing a laptop/iPhone with them so that they can update on what the line is like at suburban station?

I'd really like to go to the Apple store b/c I still have my $100 early adopter voucher, but since I'm in Philly and happen to have a crazy Friday, I really would rather not have to drive out to the mainline just to find out that the line is huge.

p.s. I was all set on the black 16gb until I have seen more photos of it in the wild with all those smudge marks, cleaning the screen off is already a bit of a nuisance, so I'd rather not add cleaning the back off to that list too. So are you all going with the black or the white?

well if it helps any, my friend as i mentioned above is a mac specialist. he told me not to fret about getting at suburban square early. he said they have so many iphones they won't run out. don't hold this to me though. i'll hurt him if they run out :p

still getting there early though despite the fact that he told me i was nuts hahah. guess we're a bunch of crazy people!

and i'll have my blackberry if that helps any. i guess i could update and let people know while i'm there what the lines are like. kinda sad it's my last day using it- love that phone- but it's time to change!

I am thinking of the black...even with the smudge mark issue. I recently ran across intelleshield covers for apple products. I bought one for my white 80 gb ipod and I love it. It is kind of difficult to put on, but once it is on, it is pretty much invisible and totally protects the unit. Plus it doesn't change the look. I know I sound like a commercial, but I really do love it and have pre-ordered one for my iPhone!

I think I will go to ardmore (get there early and not have to deal with the KOP mall police). I called the KOP mall and they said if I got there b4 the apple store opened, that I would not be allowed to wait outside the store. Not sure if that is true, but Ardmore sounds like less of a hassle. :)

As of 5:25 am, 35 people in line at apple in Ardmore!

So this is your chance to get here soon if you want to be one of the first people to get 3G!

Also, my Mac specialist friend said he unpacked hundreds of iphones last night, so don't worry!

Anyone have an update as to what the line is like and if supplies are running low, which I doubt will be the case this year?

    columbus blvd

I was just at the Columbus blvd atnt store and there was about 40 people in line. Tell issue is the length of time it's taking them for each transaction. It's about 25 minutes per person. Not good.

    Philly, PA
Been waiting in line at Ardmore Apple Store since 7:30am. Line was moving good until about 9:15am then things slowed to a crawl. Supposedly the activation servers stopped working for a while, but things are back up now and the line is moving pretty good.

Any 16GB left in Philly area AT&T stores?

Been shooed away at Columbus Blvd, N Philly, and NJ stores - anyone out there with any stock? AT&T grossly underestimated inventory for today...

I have been to 6 different AT&T stores and all have no 16GB iPhones, white or black. Would try an Apple store but I was told that because I get some company discount on my current AT&T phone, that I had to go to AT&T to purchase this one...

Someone tell me 16th & Chestnut is stocked, or else I'm going to bed.

    Here is my experience.

6:00 am - arrived at ardmore store (I was #70 in line)

7:30 am - I counted the people behind me, the line wrapped all the way around the block and there were almost 200 people in line.

7:45 am - big line movement - I think they opened the store doors and let people line up inside which basically moved the line up, but nothing else.

8:00 am - line starts to move slowly.

9:15 am - I am standing at the door and will be the next person allowed in the store.

9:30 am - standing inside the store waiting on my turn to be waited on. Most people took this time to look at accessories.

    wait...wait...wait...server problems....movement comes to a crawl.

10:30 am - line starts to move rapidly.

10:45 am - Someone comes to wait on me. Choosing the 16 gb black model and porting over my number, and all of that took about 10 minutes.

10:55 am - I am handed off to another employee for activation and personalization. iTunes servers quit responding. The employee tries for 30 minutes to activate my phone with no success. So now my old cell phone does not work and my iPhone is not activated - I have to go to work for a meeting. I am out of time.

11:30 am - I leave the apple store and a rough estimate puts the line at about 150 people.

6:57 pm - I am downloading the new version of iTunes right now so I can activate my iPhone.

i was really looking forward to waiting in line for the iPhone 4 this year just as i did two years ago for the 3G, but i am leaving the day before for my vacation.

i definitely say go to the apple stores over at&t (at&t only gets a few iphones), and suburban square is great because it's an outdoor location. starbucks usually gives out free coffee too!

i'll be preordering my 32GB white iPhone 4 on the 15th. hate that i have to now wait an extra 6 days to get my hands on what i've been waiting to hear about for months now!
