I'm a recent switcher and could'nt be happier with my 12" iBook but after I calibrated by battery for the second time today both coconutBatttery and SystemProfiler claim that I now have a maximum capacity of 4444mAh instead of the usual 4400mAh. I know it's only 44mAh more than normal but still I'm confused. As I understand it, calibrating the battery lets the charger know how much energy the battery can take and now I'm a little concerned that my battery might be constantly overcharged in the future (although not a lot) and be damaged by that. Does anyone know what's wrong or has experienced something similar?

I really wouldn't give that a second thought at all. Calibrating increases battery life, and makes it more effective overall. An increase like that is most likely normal. Don't worry about it.

the maximum charge rating for the battery should be a constant. 4400 mAh, as it were. as this is a function of manufacturing. calibrating the battery is meant to reassess the full charge capacity, something that diminishes gradually over the life of your computer. if i were you i would try restarting and see if it still reads 44 mAh above. and if it does, just to be safe, i'd call apple or something. overcharging has been known to yield catastrophic results.. at the same time i've never really heard of anything like this happening. and it doesn't sound like that big a deal.

I just Apple Support and they said this could sometimes happen but is software related. The battery itself still has 4400mAh and won't be damaged just because the software reports that it can hold more. Thanks :)
