Why doesn't Cingular offer to pay early termination fees (typically between $150 and $200) for customers that agree to purchase an iPhone and a new Cingular contract?

That way, Cingular would get the extra $79ish per month per new customer, or $960 a year, and convince a lot more people to run out and buy an iPhone and switch to Cingular, like myself.

How do you know that they won't?
This thing won't come out until JUNE.
You can't even pre-order it yet. Patience please.

I suspect they'll first want to see how high demand is before offering extra incentives. If they can sell all the iPhones they can make at the MSRP, there won't be any discounts / rebates.
