There's a whole lot of mess that could happen, somewhat like this or some other way. We may be in for a world of hurt.

excellent link. long but worth the time.

that a man as intelligent as clarke could have his career torpedoed by the bush administration speaks volumes about the world of **** we're in....and that it's just going to get deeper.

Unfortunetly it's going to take a big jolt to really bring down the current system, probably worse than 9/11 (as if that wasn't a big enough wake-up call, but it looks like lesson not learned as we do the exact opposite of what we should). I'm still hoping the pendulam swings ever so slightly back to the other side, more toward the middle at least, before it comes to that. Contrary to popular neo-con belief, this isn't about bringing down the current administration or being happy if something bad happens to them. It's about trying to stop those bad things from happening in the first place.

Iraq is a mess, 1300+ soldier dead (we support the troops... you know, unless they want some of the billion dollars a week to go to something wimpy like armor or equipment), Bin Laden's still out there, the economy's in the toilet, the enviroment is getting worse, Big Business is completely taking over (worse than ever), the rest of the world went from feeling for us to hating us (more than ever), the country is split in 2, people are more afraid than ever... but hey, at least 2 guys can't get married to other!
