No, it is not about love. It is about Macintosh.

It saved me several times on exams (beauty of its interface and power of Keynote)

It saved my nerves today (going to sleep), when lights went out in our house in the middle of my writing a letter.

It makes my life better in different ways.

    ...It frustrates me sometimes.

    I like it.
What is your attitude towards the machine?
    Is it merely an instrument?
    You gave it a name?

Artificial intelligence is a distant advance. Consciousness in the machine may be a myth. But what if, by animating (anima) the machine, we make ourselves better - what if soon we will be able to see a living being in people near us too?

So, does the machine have soul?

I'm going to pretent I didn't read that.

It remind me the cartoon of th little toaster that is looking for its friend.

The best unique feeling is called "orgasm" and is better than a Mac, trust me.

"One More Robot learns to be
    something more than a machine.
When it tries the way it does
makes it seem like it can love.
'Cause its hard to say what's real
when you know the way you feel
    Is it wrong its sad
when it tries the way it does...."

And dolphins are the only known creature (besides humans) to have sex for pleasure. Not sure how one would know this, though. Or how they figured out how long a pig's orgasm lasts.

Actually, there's a certain kind of chimp(or orangatang, maybe) whose females actively seek out sex with their long-term companions even when they aren't ovulating... They even have sex face to face..

Macs are computers. I'm not so loyal to a machine to see otherwise. Its a great computer, I'll give you that, but a great computer is no more human than a good computer. Betsy......um.....I mean, "My computer" only helps me complete my tasks quicker. Its not my friend or anything.

There's only one way to find out.....

I know this will be sent to the wasteland if I post this, but I have to disagree and make the post nonetheless.

the best feeling IMHO is when you are are slightly drunk and you really, really, really have to go to the bathroom to take a pee, BUT YOU CAN'T (for whatever reason)

then, after a certain amount of time (that seems infinite to you and turns more and more unbearable and painful with each second), you can finally go and empty your bladder... aaaaaah, what a relief :) I don't know, but you can have orgasms all the time but this situation comes around maybe once a year (and never on purpose) and the relief is awesome!

sorry, but I just had to post that, you can now beat me to death

When you find dolphins molesting swimmers, boats, drain pipes you figure they are in it for the fun.

Bonobo's(pigmy chimps, who along with chimps are our most common relative) are also know to do it for fun, in various positions with the female often demanding it. Got to love national geographic. ;)

Serious. I can't remember where I read about it. I think it was on some USENET FAQ almost decade ago.

This is the thing that puzzles me. If a dog humps a human's leg, or a dolphin "frollicks" with a human swimmer, we think its cute or something. We don't call it what it reeeeally is.....bestiality!!

Some people have the same fetish as Volls, except they like it when it comes out the other end.

Its amazing how fast this thread spiraled into the gutter. (not that I haven't helped) but considering the original thought no one mentioned the New Car Smell.

I had a plumber over to do some work once and he said "Oh, there is nothing like popping the cherry on a new can of flux"

The actual pleasure lasts a lot longer though, at least for me.

My current Mac has lasted for 3 years and nine months so far. Expecting it to last longer.

    My, you're an optimist. :)

Curiously, though I was very much an animist when I was little--giving names and personalities to a lot of ordinary objects--I don't see computers that way. I've largely grown out of the tendency, but even so, I've taken too many programming classes (including an AI course) to assign personality to a computer just yet.

don't get me wrong, it's not a pee fetish

it's just that the relief when you are finally allowed to go to the bathroom or you finally can (like during half-time break when you've been standing in a crowded soccer stadium and you couldn't get out) comes around maybe once in one or two years. it's nothing sexual!

Point 1: Macs last for longer than 3 years...Much, much longer. Trust me.

Point 2: Flickta TRIES to make a profound statement and induce some interesting discussion (if a tad overdone), and what do we do? Go STRAIGHT to the gutter.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...In fact, I would have expected nothing less of mymemory over there. ;)
