    Not so smug.

    1: Vista
    5. iPhone
    8: Leopard
    9: Office 2007
    11: Zune

It does seem a little like a personal rant fest.

It also named Leopard #8 and the iPhone #5 (what? no :apple:TV?) so I don't think we should gloat too much yet.

EDIT: The more I look at this list it really seems like the author just went through the various forums, picked the biggest troll threads and went from there. Nothing too exciting. I like my top 10 lists to start fights. :p

If you read why the rated the iPhone, I tend to agree with them. They are rating AT&T's network, the whole pricing debacle, and it being locked down. Things I see talked about on here rather regularly...

it is so dumb to rate the iphonelike that it has been a major hit and i the most advanced phone BY FAR widely available in the US. ATTs EDGE may have issues but you cna complain about pricing every new phone comes with a 2 year contract and on every phoone you have to buy data and text plans. basically thiss is a diatribe agianst the entire cellphone market in the US

Two Apple products in the top 10 as disappointments? Well, I'd expect that from "PC World." At least they called a spade a spade and stuck Vista as numero uno. But the iPhone was certainly not a disappointment, and it has changed the way the cell phone industry does business. Yeah, the price drop was a shock but it didn't seem to hurt sales any. PC World's rant about Leopard doesn't make much sense either, since as a whole most purchasers have been pleased with it (and it's out-selling Vista).

    2001 moment....

To be fair, unless the iPhone could do what the Monolith could do then it would always going to be a disappointment.

My two favorite things Apple did this year (iPhone and Leopard) were both on the list of Biggest Disappointments? Madness. The Apple TV might have made some sense, since the promise of the device still hasn't been fully fulfilled, but the iPhone? Mistakes were made, mistakes then amplified by the media attention to the product, but all of them taken together could do not add up to a legitimate cause to mark it as a disappointment. Again I say, Madness!

As computers have gone mainstream, so have computer magazines... They read like tabloids now. Of course they're gonna cram such a story full of highly known products, never mind reality.

Okay, when talking about they Leopard (The #8 biggest tech disappointment of 2007), they say, "Maybe we just got spoiled by the iPod and iPhone, but the glow came off Steve Job's halo after this feline fleabag debuted."

Spoiled by the iPhone? You mean the #5 biggest tech disappointment of 2007?

    Either it's a disappointment or it's not.

While I agree that Vista should run away with the top spot, I think the clear candidate for #2 was this story itself.

How could anyone be disappointed with the iPhone? The facts that one was "locked down", that it was tied to the EDGE network, and what the prices were going to be were widely known before the product went on sale. So, how can anyone be disappointed once they bought one? If you got really upset that you bought a $600 iPhone only to see the price slashed by $200 within weeks, then you are probably too poor to be the first on your block to have new technology. People on such tight budgets need to learn "delayed gratification."

Leopard was a great upgrade. Once you "get" QuickLook, Stacks and Screen Sharing (to name a few), you will think Tiger is old hat. I haven't really learned to appreciate Spaces and I don't use Time Machine (I'm waiting for SuperDuper! to become compatible with Leopard.) Nevertheless, Time Machine is just what the doctor ordered for people who don't bacup their data regularly (which is the vast majority of users.)

It looks like this douchebag just went down the list of the most newsworthy tech products and services and decided he was so clever that he could make a snarky comment about each one. Does he want a cookie?
