    Hello folks,

For $99 I don't know what to get: a Palm Z22 or an iPod shuffle.

    - Z22 can't play music. But it has a calendar, a calculator, and a notepad. And I can transfer text archives and read on the screen. (storage capacity: 20 MB)

    - iPod shuffle plays music (really?? lol). It's smaller and it has pretty headphones I can use with my iBook. (storage capacity: 512 MB)

Please help me to decide!

Those are for completely different purposes!

If you want music on the go, get the shuffle.

If you want an organiser, get the Palm.

Unless you're limitted to the $99 - if you need both feature sets, consider the Nano, which will do music, contacts, calender and to-do lists, all sync'd with your PC/Mac.

Do you have a Mobile Phone? Many mobile phone's these days have contacts, calendars and to-do lists that can be sync'd up with PC/Macs and make very useful mini-PDA's, that you're more likely to take with you than a PDA or iPod.

Perhaps if you think about each of these things in comparison to what you do now? How do you organize your schedule now? Will getting a Palm make you feel much better about your organization? How do you listen to music now? Will a Shuffle help you enjoy your music collection more? Is one of those more important to you than the other?

And also, is this $100 burning a hole in your pocket, or have you been waiting to purchase one of these things? If you saved up another $100, would you buy a Shuffle and a Palm like this one, or would you buy something completely different?

I have an Axim x51v and an 3G iPod 15GB, and I love both of them, and wouldn't trade one for the other. Although...I could be convinced to trade the iPod for a current generation full-size iPod. :D

Also ditto the mobile phone idea... I don't know how mobile phone pricing works in Brazil, but in the US, if you really wanted to, I think you can get a mobile phone that stores some songs and/or has a memory slot (like the Nokia Symbian phones do) and also can store your calendar. But here in the States, you'd probably have to sign a contract for one or two years. Again, don't know how this works in Brazil.

I'm not saving money. Like mkrishnan said, it's $100 burning a hole in my pocket. Here in Brazil, for example, a Motorola V3 costs about R$ 1.300,00 (something like US$ 590.00). I think it gives an idea about how advanced phones are expensive here.

And this thread is not that silly. Z22 and iShuffle are the same price, but Z22 seems to have much more features.

It doesn't play you want something that plays music? Or just storage for "to-do lists"? What you want out of it is the main question...and yeah, this is a silly thread...sorry...I'm really not clear on what your needs are so the question you asked can't really be answered.

Keep in mind that the 512 Shuffle is $79 at the Apple Refurb Store, which I highly recommend. Similarly, the 1gb model is $99. This isn't a bargain. It's a steal. I have the 1gb and absolutely love it.

I think you'll get more enjoyment and use out of your iPod. The rest, you can carry their physical equivalents.
