How about a laptop that is drop proof from 25' (7.62 meters) onto hard concrete, water proof to 100' (30.48 meters) below water, and have a screen that cannot be scratched in a 100 mph (160.934 kmh) sand storm - can it be done? :)

Probably. Could the user of average or even above average means afford it? Probably not!

    could be done.
    would be expensive.
    would be huge.
    would be clunky.

    think of the panasonic ToughBooks.

Not from my end anyway. It would be nice to have a 5 minute window though. :)

That really looks like an old DOS-style simulated GUI to me.

    according to this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=230166
you should be able to, unless things have changed again. PM a 'god' (Doctor Q or Arn) if you can't edit it still....

And it looks like an average PC laptop! ( Except maybe for the paint, most PC laptops don't get that high a quality of finish :D )

It's awfully small and blurry, but that huge shadow is what makes me think that.
