I was looking at Apple's systems, and I saw that the 15" iMac has a Geforce4MX. That was about the only other option I had in buying my Mac, and I was wondering if the Geforce4 MX was really that much better than the Radeon 7500 that I have in my eMac here.

No, in fact the emac with a 7500 was outperforming the imac with the geforce4mx. thats why apple bumped up the imac to 1.25 and kept the emac at 1.0. see MacAddict if you think im making it up.

He's right, the 32meg 7500 that shipped in the powermacs was actually faster in most area's. So be happy with that card, its an oldy, but a goodie.

the geforce 3, hands down (but at this moment, i would look toward the 9600).

The 9000 is an 8500 (geforce3 eqiuvalent)--BUT stripped down. The reason? The 9000 is direct competitor to the Geforce4 MX series (also value).

Steer away from both the Geforce4 MX and 9000 (and also 9100). These are horrible performers in comparison to the mainstream equivalents.

The Geforce4 Ti4200 is night and day better than the MX 420 or even the MX460. The 9600Pro and 9600XT are far better than the 9000.

For value sake, i would take the 9600pro, hands down.

may i remind you ive got a cube the 9000 and gforce 3 are the limit the 8500 dosent support dual apple lcd's nether dose the gforce 3

also im limited to 2x agp

(some dude from ati is working on a way to get a 9600 pro in a cube look on www.cubeowner.com he probably wont be able to do it without drastic moding (which i would be up for)

I can go dual display on my Cube with a 7500 - making it a nice piece of kit. One of the many advantages is that you can get one without a fan - and the mod ISN'T a major effort (unlike with the 8500 and upwards).

With only a 2x AGP available on the Cube, I doubt whether you'd notice MUCH of a speed-bump with anything more than the Radeon 7500. Save your dosh, and go for the processor upgrade instead!!!

    :D
