The movie is loosely constructed around the plot of the first book.

Considering the movie made about $22 million on its opening weekend, my guess would be yes.

The movie even ended hinting at the sequel, so I imagine we'll see it soon enough.

True, but the plot for The Restaurant at the End of the Universe movie will have to differ considerably from the plot of the RATEOTU book, because of the changes concerning Earth in the HHGTTG movie. (I don't want to post any specific spoiler-type info.)

The HHGTTG movie just might make it into my list of all-time favorite movies... saw it for the second time today and liked it even better than the first time.

hmm, that's true, but I'm going to have to reread the series to remember all that happens....

but since the RATEOTU concerns time travel, there are plenty of options there :D
