Description:: I love the invisibleSHIELD. I love it so much it is now on both my 4G and 5G iPods, and it will definitely be on my 6G (when it comes out). For me, the invisibleSHIELD is the only case worthy of sitting atop Apple’s brilliantly designed iPod.

    Rating 9 out of 10

Pros: Provides great protection, allows the beauty of your iPod to shine through, comes with a life-time warranty

Cons: The slight extra thickness the invisibleSHIELD adds to an iPod may make it a tight fit in some peripherals.

who needs the cases if you have the invisible shield?

It is an amazing product, i buy it for every one of my electronics that they make it for. (which is a bunch) like cell-phones.

Sorry, can't get too excited over a 2-cent piece of plastic.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

I LOVE these things- I have one for my PSP and for my iPod. There's nothing better than when someone shows me their iPod that has been scratched to hell and then I show them mine (which has been under an invisible shield since the day I got it). There's also nothing better than taking my keys and beating the hell out of the iPod with the shield on it, only to have the "scratches" in the plastic slowly morph back to the way it was. I'm just waiting for one for my new macbook!

EDIT: I see they are now available. Looks like I am buying one ASAP!

Oh, I assure you I know what I'm talking about. I'm not questioning the utility of the product. It probably works fine. I'm just less than enthusiastic about paying what is at least a 500% markup -- and probably more -- on what is essentially a sheet of plastic laminate.

I installed it on my daughter's MacBook about a month ago, and it is rather stunning how it resists damage. The largest piece that fits over the lid was a challenge, but you can keep trying over and over, and it took me three tries to get it both bubble-free and aligned.

I had wondered how much of a mark-up it was. hbrandt2, what is your source for the 500% figure? I can find no wholesale or manufacturing figures.

3M also makes a product that uses the same material for car nose areas, and it's pretty expensive there too.

Wait.. you own an iPod (and I presume a Mac) and you have trouble with the idea of paying for a 500% markup?
    that's dirt cheap!
    :D
Why don't you make one yourself for 2 cents, and see how well it works.

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I have seen this product first hand and used it myself and works just as advertised. I can sit there and beat my MacBook Pro or iPod with my keys and not put a single nick or ding in it.

I have it on the MBP I'm trying to sell. It's really a great product. Scratches usually appear on my Macs randomly (or I just forget how they got there) but with an Invisible Shield, I haven't had that problem at all. It really does protect from scratches.
