Wow. That does it -- I'm getting an iPod Touch. I had already written to Belkin asking if they could make their stereo microphone for it like they had for the iPods, and they said if the Touch could record, then they would. So it's only a matter of time before the usefulness of the Touch matches that of its big brother.

Chills ran down my spine as I thought about it - VOIP... out of a device that thin, that I can take with me anywhere, and use with wifi that requires some form of browser interaction to establish a connection to...

    :)

Now I just need to open Excel files on the go, and a decent outlining application...

What teh heck is an outlining app?

I really hope the touch does get some more PDA-like apps though!

A very simple app that I can throw an outline together with, on the fly. It's pretty important for me to be able to do that, or I would need to keep a pad of paper with me to take notes with. A basic text editor would do, but it would be nice to have a dedicated app.

Not having an iTouch myself, I don't know - I knew you could on the iPhone, but didn't know you could on the touch... if I'm not mistaken (and I may be), there is no mail app on the touch right now? It's all web-based, yes?
