After the success of the Liverpool FC thread and the "scousers" threatening to throw those of us who don't happen to like the red shoes, I thought we'd start a Premier League site. NB: This is an English Premier League thread - non of your Italian or Spanish malarky! ;)

Well...to start it... I'm a Boro fan (just in case you couldn't guess by my sig) - and bitterly disappointed that super Stewart Downing wasn''t even on the bench for the World Cup qualifiers. :( He's left footed, and unlike a certain Brummie player, doesn't fall over whenever a defender comes within 50 yards of him. :D

Mourinho is reported to be on the verge of signing a new 3-year contract.
This is a good thing, if you happen to be a Chelsea supporter... :)

Hasn't been too exciting to be a Evertonian after Gravesen was sold to Real Madrid... :(

Why couldn't the b*stard have kept him and (probably) cruised into a Champions League qualification spot...? It would have been worth so much more than the petty cash they got now in January...

Yeah, I read a fun thread on a football site where they were talking about how it took ManU 10 years to be as hated as they are but Mourinho and Chelsea have managed to be hated even more in 2 seasons or less.

Anyway, I can't talk. In the EPL my team is the loony toons. 'nuff said?

Besides, there's plenty of hate to go around. Man U & Leeds for one...

Premier League only, eh? Never mind – I'll pop back in a season or two when Hull reach the top flight! :p

Aston Villa. If nobody noticed, we outplayed a miserable Newcastle team and beat them 3-0 at the weekend. Before that fight. :)

Well, as this is a PL thread, you don't really have to worry about Leeds for several seasons... :D :p

am i allowed in this thread??? ;)

nah, don't think so. mourinho is an arrogant ****er whom i despise. if they had a different manager and were in the position they are now, i may have to agree with you. but otherwise...proud to be a life-long liverpool fan!

I'm going to be very surprised to see this thread surviving past the first serious Liverpool/Everton exchange, or indeed anyone talking about ManUre.... ;) ;) :D

Obviously, being a mod and a rabid Liverpool fan gives me the edge here (sadly not like 'pool on the pitch all the time lately though).

Lets try to keep it vaugely civil (yeah, right).

Chelski gave Bayern a bit of a kicking though, not often you see 4 past Khan, even though he's getting on a bit.

I thought Lampard played a blinder.

Boss Sir Alex Ferguson refused to speak to his club's TV station or the press after his side's shock 2-0 defeat at Norwich. It is the first time in the seven years of MUTV that Ferguson has not shared his post-match thoughts with them.

    *hearty chuckle*

Oh dear...this makes our 4-1 up at Carrow Road to 4-4 in full time look positively a great result. What a strange season this has been...

Still - rumours Mclaren is refusing to sign a new Boro contract unless he gets an England job get-out clause :( At least he might have to stay for a while - doesn't Eriksson have 3 years left on his contract at £4million a year?

Yep, Eriksson is contracted until after Euro 2008 – mind you, if we have a disastrous World Cup campaign you never know what might happen.

Your run-in includes away games to Chelsea & Blackburn and home matches against Newcastle & Everton... points could be hard to get from these games. Could go down to the wire to the last game against Norwich.

What's wrong with Leeds? Apart from the fans, the players, the stadium, the "Living The Dream(TM)? Can I contribute to this thread as a Leeds fan? Being a Leeds fan means that you prefer organised violence over football :p. Lucky that I played, and prefer, rugby - I still have some sanity :D

Nothing's wrong with Leeds (to me). Was merely commenting on the warm and cordial relationship between Man U & Leeds supporters... :)

You've noticed that too? I'm sure Rio can appreciate that. Something about ships and rodents springs to mind. FWIW I hope Chelski win both the Premiership and the European Cup. Seeing them play this year has been an absolute joy, if you can ignore the off field rubbish that has been going on lately. I find it extremely worrying that I'm starting to like David Mellor's column in the Standard on Fridays - anyone else feel the same? :p As long as they stuff Man U I'm happy :D

Strictly speaking this is a PL thread, but maybe you can contribute otherwise to the thread... :p

Good day to be an Everton fan... :D

...poor Crystal Palace was demolished 4-0... first really convincing win this year... Arteta scored early, two fast Cahill goals just after half time settled it, then 16 years old James Vaughan got his League debut, and SCORED the last goal... :D

...this is even better than Liverpool's loss yesterday... :D

...and to make this weekend perfect Norwich beat the cr*p ut of Man Utd last night and Newcastle just lost to Tottenham... oh, happy days... :D

    Edit: :D :D :D

I'm a Man Utd fan. I know, I know, most people not from England are Man Utd fans, but I'm a Tim Howard fan, and I'd be rooting for whatever team he ended up on if he had been on a different team.

Their loss to Norwich was pittiful. I think it came from them being over-cocky. They didn't start Ronaldo, Rooney, or Van Nistelrooy.

    Gunners fan here.

Yeah... I know I'm Dutch, but I was brought up in England (till I was 9), and went to Highbury with my Dad a couple of times back then. Been a follower ever since.
Nowadays we try to make this trip an annual fixture!

So much more fun than our league over here....
