    I've been a member for... almost a year and a half now, and I have less than 350 posts. I'd probably have 400.. but I lose a lot of big posts to crashes and am too lazy to re-write them. What is the longest time it's taken someone to get an avatar?

    What does it take to not be a newbie around here?

    This is the only forum I've been to where post counts are not displayed, so I figured they weren't being recorded at all (which I thought was a good thing and a sign of maturity). I don't care how many posts I have; but I am psyched to not be a newbie, and an avatar would be nice.

    Only 473 more posts before you're there! No spamming though!:p

    Haha, that must be the most depressing you could say (if you actually care about your ranking)

    I guess, you, Bob, are the slowest guy approaching an avatar. I registered earlier than you, but I thought my post rate would be impossible to beat @ 0.72 posts per day. But... ;)

    After 30 posts you get to leave your newbie status behind ;)

    To become a regular, you need 100 posts.

    This has already been covered so many times. Perhaps you could just do a search next time, and find out for yourself?

    Yeah, some of these topics in Community Discussion are pretty silly. Hardly worthy of adding to anyone's post count if you ask me.

    I have been a member for 586 days and have made 88 posts at an average of 0.15 per day.

    I do consider myself to be an active member and actually visit the site most days, and never leave it for more than a week.

    It would be nice if people like me could get an avatar for the length of time as a member rather than posting lots of messages, but I'm not really bothered. I am thinking of buying a mug soon as I'd like to support the site - do they still exist? And does that entitle me to a 'tar?

    Otherwise, I should hit the 500 post mark in another 3433 days, around Christmas 2012 I think!!!!

    I've done searches several times and came up with nothing. I can't remember the different combinations of words and numbers I used.

    While we're on the topic, could someone please direct me (us?) to the specific thread?

    I was wondering where the jumps from newbie to regular to member to the different numbers occur. Also, what is the significance of the numbers (i.e. 6502)?

    I thought becoming a demi-god might equip me with this knowledge. Instead, I feel like a dummy-god. ;) (That was bad, wasn't it?)

    Actually, that was pretty funny. My searches have also come up short. Oh well...

    Newbie = 0 - 29 posts
    Member => 30 posts
    Regular => 100 posts
    6502 => 500 posts
    65816 => 1000 posts
    65832 => 1500 posts
    68000 => 1505 posts
    68010 => 2000 posts
    68020 => 2005 posts
    68030 => 2500 posts
    68040 => 2900 (not 100% sure about that one)
    601 => somewhere around 5000
    .....

    All I did was a search for 'Post Status', and it came up with a whole list of threads. Just trawl through them.

    The numbers simply refer to different processors that apple have used through the years. Check out www.apple-history.com. You should be able to find which processor was used for which computer, if you're interested that is ;)

    Is there a reason to say

    68030 => 2500 posts
    etc....

    in the FAQ instead of showing the rest of the thresholds?

    Perhaps because by that stage they'll have so many posts that they don't really care what the next barrier is? ;)

    You could probably take the list on to insane post counts, but there's really no need. The list might as well be cut short somewhere, so......

    I'm just interested in what all the titles are. When does one become a G4 (using the proper numbers, of course)? ANd also - how come the 68020 is only for 5 posts? Was it not used much in Apple's products?

    britboy,

    Thanks for the explanation. I tried "status" combined with other words. Never thought of "post status."

    At my rate, I won't have an avatar until new PowerBooks come out. ;)

    longest ascent to avatarhood from a regular poster could be kainjow, who has been here since june of 2000 and is yet to be at 100 posts

    i believe he is the oldest non-administrator poster on macrumors who still posts
