Just a heads-up/FYI,
I tried reinstalling Lion from a flash drive I created. It already had Lion on it but I erased the whole drive (recovery partition included). When trying to boot from my Lion flash drive, it kept saying ""There was a problem installing "Mac OS X"." It would exit the installer but still stay in the little live OS where I could launch Terminal or Disk Utility.
Resetting the PRAM before booting from the flash drive again fixed the problem. The installer now boots up correctly and can do clean installs again!
