I've previously seen it with an Irish Lighthouse. In fact there's a scandinavian (swedish???) advert based on the story. I have it here but I don't seem to be able to upload it to my idisk from my work PC....

Hehe, oh the arrogance coming from that joke. :)

I'm sure its a joke, but I can almost hear someone saying that. I heard an American say something similar to me and several people about fast food once during an argument about the taste of good fast food (I know I know, weird convo). Didn't have a witty comeback like that one, but oh man, I sure wish I did.

Good thing was that I remember them backing down gracefully when we moved the conversation on to the taste of good beer. :)

i saw a very funny thing like that on the simpsons- homer and marge needded to be rescued from niagra falls, and there are two boats- one canadian, and one american. They start arguing over who will rescue them, and start fightiing, letting homer& marge tumble over the falls.

i guess you kinda have to see it  :D

    great joke-totally a keeper

I've heard variants of this many times. Even a song about it. As I think edesign realized, this story is not true.

Yes, but I'm thinking blue & whiteman wasn't clear on that. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

the navy should have called an airstrike on the lighthouse...acutally, the usa should attack canada for two reasons

    1) it's actually a war we could win
    2) they would NEVER be expecting it

    :)

locally, our italian fishing fleet was once quarantined by the us navy during world war II along the west coast with the understanding that they would be returned after the end of the war

but in typical us navy style, they lost some of them...seems somebody thought it would be a great idea to sail these small wooden ships through a typhoon en route to a safe holding place in taiwan...hey, it didn't seem to damage battleships and aircraft carriers ;)

america could "win" any war we wanted to...
we just wouldnt be willing to pay for it (in dollars and life...)
also, we would be killing innocent people and we arent willing to do that... but if we really wanted to we could win against any country in the world right now...
