I sometimes want to edit a sound file by snipping off the intro or cutting off a long ending and then maybe adding a fade out. For right now I have been taking the files over onto my Windows machine and editing them there. Isn't there some application on my Mac that can do this? I heard Garage band should be able to but it doesn't even see the MP3 files.

How can I do this minor editing? Is it something for Garage Band or is there another application in Leopard??

you could use this free app call Audacity.

Or Drag and drop the file onto the garageband time line. If that does not work import into itunes and convert it.

Grab a file out of one of the folders that you store your music in and drag and drop it into the open Garageband window. It will import and then show up in one of the tracks where you can play it or edit it.

I'll give that a try. Thanks.
