    3. Dream On

i've got a slight comedy bias. twin peaks was good, but it didn't hook me like the above (save caesar, but how could you argue with that writing?)

I complete agree with you on Monty Python's flying circus - i was raised on that!!

    The simpsons is amazing too.

As for the others, i'd have to say:

    • Red Dwarf
    • ER
    • Neighbours

I think simpsons, seinfeld, cheers should definitely be on there...as well as some others, but two that deserve props are I Love Lucy and...Dallas....Even though they are before my time you know they are important.

When you say "Top 5", you don't mean our personal favorites; you mean the shows which had the biggest impact at the time, that people liked the most and watched, shows that people would want to watch 30 or more years later.

I doubt that "X Files" or "24" or any of the other stuff produced these days will even be watchable 30 years from now. They're all just as forgettable as "My Mother the Car" and "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" or even "I Dream of Jeannie". I really liked "My Favorite Martian" and "Get Smart" but I wouldn't put them on any list of "great" TV shows. "Mission Impossible" was a great one too though, but I feel "60 Minutes" edged it out because of the impact it had when it was new. Unlike other news shows, it had visual appeal, and it had a "bite".

I am not sure what my top 5 favorites would be, but i really like hogan's heroes and get smart; although i do not know where they would rank.

As far as cartoons go family guy, the simpsons, and futurama are my favorites in that order (i place the simpsons second due to the first 2 seasons and the recent shows).

the shield is one of my favorite dramas, as are the first few seasons of law and order. something about the polish with which the newer seasons of law and order are produced causes me to like them less although i still enjoy them.

oh and i dream of jeannie and bewitched

ok, thats enough i could go on naming good shows for a while; its too hard to limit to five

Married with Children (I dont know why I love this show, but I do...)

I noticed most mac users love the simpsons and the family guy. Just one of those strange humor things. We mac users are just alittle off beat....

P.S. They need to bring back the Family Guy (I know it's on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network, I just want more broadcast support....)

Family Guy is by far the best cartoon ever shown on tv.
Anyways, my friend tells me today that FOX is thinking about releasing a new Family Guy movie straight to dvd due to the overwhelming sales of the season 1 and 2 dvd set. Don't know how reliable this rumor is but I hope it's true.

Here is a shot of one of my favorite episodes: E. Peterbus Unum

    re: Family Guy

I never got into that show, partially since my parents banned me from watching it..[IMG] (I think it was because one of the ads was Peter chiseling away the statue of David's wanker...[IMG]) so I never got to watch it as often as I'd have liked...they have a DVD set of a couple of the seasons?
