    I own an iBook G4.

Today when I got on my laptop, I noticed something odd and annoying. The top bar, where the apple/file/edit....time etc. is shown was hightlighted. It has a shadow from the apple all the way to help, as if I have hightlighted it, but the thing is I haven't done anything to it. The only way to take it off is point the mouse at file for instance and then go down the row, and the shadow is removed. It does not stay off though. I open a new window; it is back on. What has happened? How do I fix this??

I a little confused as to exactly what you are talking about. If you press Command(apple)-Shift-4, you will get a crosshairs where you can drag a box that will show up as a screen shot on your desktop when you let go. I bet if you were to post a picture using this method of what you are talking about, it would be a little clearer (or maybe I am completely missing something  )

    Are you talking about this:

For further reference, for those who don't know, the "top bar" is called the Menu Bar.
