    hi all,
I want to trade my g4 powerbook, 15" display, 1.5 ghz, 512mb RAM, DVD Burner, 2 batteries, for a newish ibook - (1 ghz or better i suppose), and cash. I prefer the 12" model, but if you have a 14" model with a DVD Burner i would be interested in that as well. My problem is i really like to write with the laptop on my lap and it just gets too hot. I would also consider trading for the 12" powerbook, but from what I understand, that gets really hot too. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Thanks,
    Max

Forgive me for saying this but you'd be MAD to trade that model down!!

If it's to gain a bit of extra cash then fair enough, but if it's because of the heat issue then I have one word for you.... iLap!

I have a 12" PowerBook and it does indeed get very hot when using it on your lap. I've had an iLap for a week now and it's amazing - really comfortable to use and helps to keep the PB cool. The fan hasn't kicked in once.

Even the iBook gets hot, just put it on something like an ilap or icurve.

Yea, I agree with everyone else, keep that thing!! I have a 15' PB with a Red Crumpler School Hymn, which I keep the PB in when typing, and the heat no longer affects me at all. Just a thought.

'Preciate the offer, but I'm more interested in a 12 incher. My only motivation for bumping up to 14" is to get the superdrive.

I'm sort of back on the fence now. I really like the keyboard on the powerbook. What I really want is a powerbook w/ a pentium M... anyone have a nifty little prototype that they'd like to trade?

edit" hmm and $60 for the iLap. That's not chump change. I could just duct tape a towel to either end of the thing.

Check out the Lapinator- it's cheap, light, and seems to do a good job-

    www.lapinator.com

I just got one, it's not a beautiful piece of matching aluminum like the iLap, but I wanted something small and light that could possibly go in my bag.

My PB gets really hot too, so far so good with this pad. You can find them on EBay for about $25 shipped (sold direct by manufacturer.)
