I have the blessing and curse of great hearing. I get very nerdy with how songs sound, and it's great, because I'm obsessed with music.

However, when I upgraded my 5G 80gb iPod Video, with a new 120gb Classic, I noticed a sound quality change/degradation. I'm not alone, so the 'nets tell me. The change is due to :apple: changing the audio chipset from Wolfson, to Cirrus. I want the warmth, et all, of the Wolfson back, and I don't care for any of the 7G features I would lose.

If I acquired a 5, or 5.5G logic board, and replaced my Classic board, would the darn thing fit, and work?
I really can't see why, unless maybe the battery, screen, headphone-jack, or HD ribbon would be incompatible.

What do you think? Please share your two cents with me, as I am on the verge of voiding my warranty in the name of better sound. I am desperate.
Thank you
